| The Commitment | Georgia Beta has remained the Oldest Chapter in Continual Existence thanks in large part to the tireless and tenacious service and leadership of our Athens alumni. Among the eighty-five plus Athens alumni serving Georgia Beta are Mark Williams, House Corporation President, and Oliver Pryor, Chapter Advisor.
Beyond the Athens’ alumni team, the House Corporation has put the following safeguards and schedules in place to maintain the integrity of the Chapter, house, and grounds:
Leases & Member Agreements – The Athens law firm of Fortson, Bentley, & Griffin has been hired to draft and maintain current leases between the Chapter and the House Corporation as well as members living in the House and the House Corporation. Further, all pledges and members will be required to execute a Member Agreement with the House Corporation whereby the member/pledge will acknowledge their understanding of, and commitment to, uphold Georgia Beta codes of conduct and expectations.
Judicial Council – the same law firm will be on retainer to establish and oversee a Chapter Judiciary Counsel to help establish rules of behavior and administer disciplines ranging from small fines to expulsion.
Ongoing Maintenance – The House Corporation will contract with professional firms to establish ongoing inspection and upkeep plans:
Cleaning
Landscaping
Plumbing/HVAC/Electrical
General building/furnishing appearance
An integral part of this process will be hiring a professional firm to conduct quarterly building inspections and establish an ongoing schedule for updates of systems, equipment, and furnishings.
The House Corporation recognizes we have the difficult task of maintaining a rare historic structure and a fraternity house for over 100 undergraduates. Our mission is to protect the integrity of the Ross Crane House and provide a safe gathering place of pride for Georgia Beta actives, alumni, parents, and guests. |
